I learned the other day that foxgloves like to grow in disturbed soil. This is why I have seen so many foxgloves proliferate each spring in areas of our island that have been logged or where some roadwork occurred the year before. These specimens were photographed on a local trail with my macro lens set to an aperture of f2.8, which almost completely blurred out the background, effectively bringing the blooms forward in the picture. In other words, they are not buried in the rest of the surrounding foliage.
