Coming Home - Rodger Hort Photography

Rodger Hort Photography

I was inspired by a watercolour on a local card that showed the North Island Princess (NIP) at night, and the colourful light reflections in the water struck me. Texada residents were given several years advance notice that the NIP would be retired - so I pursued this particular image by driving to Blubber Bay several nights to capture what I wanted well before she left service. Many Texadans feel great nostalgia for the NIP, and I was delighted to capture this image on a Thursday night. You can tell it's Thursday because the Powell River Community Bus is on the NIP - and that service is only offered on Thursdays. BTW – I guess my camera's automatic time/date was off by 12 hours – this picture was taken at 8:34 PM, not 8:34 AM.
